Outside the rain was coming down in torrents. The

Outside the rain was coming down in
torrents. The storm had started last Tuesday and still showed no sign of letting up, it
was unrelentless, like the gloom prevading Serena's heart. Personally Serena didn't care
much if it rained or shined outside, because it was always like the bitterest of storms in
here. The only difference was if the weather was bad outside then all those within Mrs.
Parchinson's Orphanage for Girls would practically freeze to death, like today. Serena sat
huddled against the window, not the warmest of places, with small unraveling blanket
drapped around her thin shoulders, silent tears running down her cheeks, matting her
shoulder length blonde hair. |
